February 14th, possibly one of the most depressing days of the year. The day when singletons, like myself are reminded all to well of our 'lonely' existence whilst those 'attached' and in relationships appear to be smothered with gifts and adoration from their partners respectively.
Personally, I take the whole concept of Valentine's Day on the chin - it has just become a massive opportunity for shops to market cheap and tacky gifts which will presumably show your love for someone else. Personally, I will never ever wish to receive a 'Me to You' teddy bear from Clintons or the last bunch of flowers from the garage forecourt nor would I buy these for anyone else. Sure a card is nice and chocolates wouldn't go a miss but why should you show your love for your partner on this one day - surely you should show this throughout the year?
As you can tell, Valentine's Day baffles me yet I still wake up at the break of dawn to intercept the post before my Mum, to check whether or not I've been lucky enough to receive a VDay card and ultimately to avoid parental embarrassment! Sadly, no card came through the post for me today and I'm looking forward to a night in, with piles of chocolate and a Bridget Jones marathon with my two boyfriends: Ben and Jerry!
What are you up to this Valentine's? Attached or single, you're all loved!
Georgie xoxo
